The United Kingdom left the European Union on 31 January 2020. With effect from the end of the transitional period on 1 July 2021, United Kingdom became a so-called third country. Thereafter, transfers would require preparation of a transfer basis for the legal transfer of personal data to the United Kingdom. This is not necessary anymore after the UK has been approved as a "secure third country" for transferring personal data.

On 4 June 2021, the European Commission issued new Standard Contractual Clauses (“SCC”) for use in the transfer of personal data outside the EU/EEA, which e.g. may be for a (sub) data processor in the United States.

On 2 February 2021, the Danish Parliament voted in favor of a new temporary law which incurs testing and isolation for certain foreign employees entering Denmark. Furthermore, the Parliament passed a new law that entails more stringent requirements for employees' housing when employers provide housing for the employees.

On 13 November 2020, the Ministry of Immigration and Integration submitted a new proposed law for consultation, in which the opportunity for former Danish citizens to reacquire Danish citizenship will be introduced for a 5-year period from 1 April 2021, when the law is expected to come into force.
